Downtown Marshall offers two old-time hardware stores, a genuine old time general store, a florist, and several stores with crafts and gift items.

"Uptown" Marshall, on the 25/70 bypass has a nursery, farm supplies, grocery, car dealer, and auto supplies store.

In May, the main street of Marshall becomes a fair with crafts, art, and demonstrations of old time arts during the Madison County Arts Council fair.

Galleries are open during the French Broad Friday celebration and the Madison County Artists' Market is open at the Marshall High Studios.

Starting in late spring and continuing through fall, the Madison County Farmers' and Artisans' Market
is held on the island from noon until 4 pm on Sundays.
